A ton of news to report this week.
First, the Battlestar Galactica Wave 1 set hit retail stores this past week. I will have more pics up tomorrow of this wave. And Spider-Man 3 Movie Minimates were released yesterday at the Wizard World Los Angeles comic book convention (read my review here). Below are some packaging pics. I will have more pics tomorrow.
The Diamond Select Toys Radical Confidential announced the planned release of a Dr. Strange Minimate (see page 2). Three other Minimates to be announced will accompany Dr. Strange in a box set. Speculation hints that these will be from the Defenders line-up.
DC Direct announced the sixth wave of DC Minimates at Toy News International: Battle Damaged Wonder Woman and Cheetah, Bizarro and Super Girl, S.T.R.I.P.E. and Stargirl, and Sgt. Rock and Blackhawk.
Finally, next week will see the release of images for the next two waves of Marvel Minimates. These will be based on the Spider-Man 3 Movie. Be sure to check Raving Toy Maniac, Art Asylum’s Forum, Minimate Multiverse Forum, and Diamond Select Toys websites for the full reveal next week.

Thanks for the pics JP, I’ve been waiting to see them.
I think it looks good for a preview pack. I expected something like this or a blister pack. Glad it’s a box, saves me some space.

glad to finally get Bizarro and Cheetah. Hope we get a Black Manta soon, and the rest of the Legion of Doom characters.
Is it just me, or is the DC Minimates being announced at a much faster pace than the Marvel ones had been?

The backwards legs are very weird. I never noticed before … woah!
I’m gonna need to research who Blackhawk is. I don’t know him. I love obscure Minimates! Gives me something to learn about!
I’m not sure why these are so shiney. Maybe a different type of paint was used on the prototypes.
I SO want a Black Manta. I am also rooting for a Gorilla Grodd and Solomon Grundy. Grundy is the Original zombie!

Blackhawk was the leader of a cool group of aviators in WWII. Most of the crew were representatives of Axis-occupied countries, and presented in a stereotypical fashion during the 40s. DC revamped the team in (lame) superhero outfits in the 60s.
The Blackhawks appeared in a couple Justice Leage episodes, and even had a serial in the 40s (although onscreen I understand they ended up driving cars more often than flying planes).
I have mixed feelings about Sgt Rock and Blackhawk, because a) we aren’t getting vehicles and Blackhawk should at least have a plane) and b)I like my beer cold, my TV loud, and my superheroes wearing awesome costumes (to paraphrase Homer Simpson). I will be getting them though. Sgt Rock looks great.
